Passport validity requirements

Germany follows Schengen area rules. Your passport must:

have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it might have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago, making it invalid for entry to the Schengen area

have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area (the expiry date does not need to be within 10 years of the date of issue)

Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

Leipzig’s compact city centre makes walking the best way to get around. You can wander from one landmark to another in no time, making it easy to explore the city at your own pace.

Public transport

The city’s public transport network consists of S-Bahn lines, trams and buses and all major sights within the city can be reached easily, quickly and inexpensively. Tickets can be purchased via the LeipzigMOVE app, ticket machines at transport stops, service centres and more.

Taxi

Official taxis are marked with a yellow ‘Taxi’ sign on the roof. There are many companies in Leipzig offering services around the clock. You can use the LeipzigMOVE app to order a taxi. Set tariffs are mandatory in the city of Leipzig and fares should not be negotiated with the driver. Rideshare services are also available.

As you can appreciate, we are very busy around the time of a major final. If you book immediately following qualification, you will be in the first batch of ticketing to be processed. We aim to have all documentation with you no later than 3 days prior to the flight departing.
